Abstract

663,906. Hairdressing appliances. DEAN,: J. D. Dec. 1, 1949. [Oct. 21, 1949] No. 27146/49. Class 131. [Also in Group XXIII] A hairdressing appliance comprises a bush provided with a back, bristles, and a handle portion, shaped as a hair cutter, a series of comb teeth extending sideways from each side of the back, a twist finger grip at the end of the brush back remote from the handle and an' absorbent applicator pad mounted on the back of the brush back. As shown, the appliance comprises a plastic moulding 10 forming a brush back 11 provided with bristles 16 and laterally extending curved comb teeth 15 of elliptical, cross-section. A sponge-rubber applicator 26, slit at each end and threaded on the handle 12 and on the twist grip 13, lies in a groove in the brush back. The device may be used as a brush, comb or applicator by rotation to bring the required part into position and can be used to form curls by grasping the knurled twist grip 13 and coiling the hair on the prongs 18, 19 of the handle.
