Abstract

663,727. Electric indicating systems. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABBIEKEN. Oct. 24, 1947. [Oct. 28, 1946] No. 28430/47. Class 40 (i). [Also in Groups XXXVI and XL (b). A material, the dielectric constant of which varies with temperature and exhibits a peak in the dieelectric constant/temperature range is used as a heat radiation detector by measuring the change in capacity of a condenser of which the material forms the dielectric. Ceramics on the basis of titanates exhibiting a Perovskite crystalline structure are referred to as suitable. The dielectric may have a thin layer of evaporated metal applied to each side which may in turn be coated with a thermal absorption material, e.g. platinum black. The formation of mixed crystals, e.g. Barium or Strontium titanate enables the peak of the dielectric constant/temperature curve to be displaced towards any desired value. Specification 574,577, [Group XXXVI], is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 613,116.
