Abstract
663,341. Pneumatic tyres. POSADA, F. D. Oct. 14, 1949, No. 26443/49: Class 144 (i). An electrically-operated device for automatically indicating fall of pressure in pneumatic tyres, by means of audible and visual signals actuated by deviation of the axial line between the tyres on opposite sides of the vehicle, comprises a member b journalled on a shaft 5 and fitted with brushes 61, 71 adapted to co-operate with a contact c or d to close the signalling circuit on wheel-drop at either side, as shown in Fig. 2. The brushes also co-operate with banks of contacts 12 by means of which the degree of deflation is signalled. The member b is maintained in horizontal position by means of a pair of opposed tie-rods 29, 34 fitted with turnbuckles 29<SP>1</SP>, 341, pivoted to pendulums 32. The latter, which are loaded by weights 33, are pivoted at 30 to brackets 31 on the wheel-mounting a. The signal devices comprise bells or buzzers 3, 4 and lamps 14, 16 actuated through the near- and off-side contacts c, d, respectively. The banks of contacts 12 are in circuit with sets of lamps 18, 20, 22 and 28, 26, 24, either of which is progressively illuminated as the extent of deflation of the corresponding tyre 1, 2 increases.
