Abstract
662,873. Photographic film backing paper. ILFORD, Ltd. April 5, 1950 [April 11, 1949], No. 9810/49. Classes 98 (i) and 98 (ii). [Also in Group VIII] Backing paper for roll films, which usually extends beyond the ends of the film and is 'attached thereto at one end, is treated on one or both surfaces with a long chain alkyl carboxylic or sulphonic acid halide, such as lauroyl, palmitoyl, or stearoyl chloride, or similar unsaturated acid chloride such as oleoyl chloride; or cetyl sulphonyl chloride, to reduce the tendency of the backing paper to stick to the film. " Duplex," that is backing paper black on the side to which the film is attached and coloured such as red or green on the reverse side may be used, and the paper may be pre-coated with a water insoluble colloid such as cellulose nitrate or acetate. The acid chlorides may be applied by doctor roll in dilute solution in a solvent such as carbon tetrachloride. The corresponding acid bromides may be used.
