Abstract
662,754. Automatic frequency control systems. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd. Dec. 2, 1948 [Dec. 5, 1947], No. 31235/48. Class 38 (iv). A reflex-klystron oscillator has its frequency automatically controlled by a voltage derived from a frequency discriminator, the control voltage being converted by modulation to a proportional A.C. voltage which is then rectified and fed to the reflector electrode or cathode of the oscillator, and the rectifier circuit is fed through an inductive or capacity coupling so as to isolate the modulator and discriminator from the high D.C. voltage of the klystron. As shown, a superheterodyne receiving circuit 1 ... 7 employs the klystron 2 as the local oscillator, and I.F. is fed from the amplifier 4 to a frequency discriminator 8, the output from which is fed to the grid of a modulating amplifier 10. A.C. is also fed to the grid' from a source 14 and the amplitudemodulated output is passed by a transformer 15 or a capacity coupling to a rectifier circuit 16 including an output filter 17, 18. The rectified output is connected across the reflector electrode 19 and the cathode of the klystron 2.
