Abstract

662,512. Photographic shutters. KODAK, Ltd. Sept. 2, 1949 [Sept. 10, 1948], No. 22846/49. Class 98 (i). Means for opening for focusing purposes a photographic shutter, having pivoted shutterblades opened and closed by mechanism including a spring-operated blade-ring 9 and having pin-and-slot connected pivoted coverblades 32 having an operating lever 38 actuated by the exposure trigger 21, comprises a manually-operable lever 41 which has a latch 44 engageable with a notch 57 in the blade-ring when the blades are fully opened, as shown, by clockwise movement from rest of said ring by means of the shutter setting lever, and which is also provided with means for actuating the cover blade operating lever 38 as by hooked finger 42 engaging the pin 37 on lever 38 interconnecting the cover blades. Preferably the lever 41 is urged anti-clockwise by a spring 47 and is manually operated by a push-button 50. To free the latch 44, 57 after focusing, the push-button is released and the blade ring is rotated clockwise a short distance, whereafter either the shutter may be set by continuing such movement or it may be allowed to return to rest by releasing hold of the setting lever.
