Abstract

661,716. Two-part couplings. BORTHAYRE, J. L. A., and BORTHAYRE, A. May 26, 1949, No. 14087/49. Class 38 (i). A two-part coupling comprises a contactholder 1 having projecting resilient contacts 2 connected to the power, earth aerial and like leads of radio or similar apparatus, and is adapted to be mounted thereon, and a support 16 having contacts 17 for connection to the power, earth, aerial and like leads, and with which the holder contacts 2 engage when the holder is placed on the support. The holder contacts are mounted in open-ended compartments 4 and may terminate as needle points 5 and the support is provided with a movable insulating ribbon 20, slid laterally by a cord 23 and apertured at 24, to isolate the contacts 17 when not in use. When the needle points 5 are provided they may be pressed through the ribbon to connect with the contacts 17. The holder is preferably recessed at 15 to engage correctly with the support, and the coupling parts are held together by gravity and if necessary by hooks.
