Abstract
661,484. Pressure gauges. HOPKINSONS, Ltd., BROWN, R. L., and BARKER, J. Feb. 2, 1950 [March 10, 1949], No. 6528/49. Class 106 (ii). A Bowden type pressure gauge has a mirror e fixed to the pinion shaft f actuated by the Bowden tube. A light source a masked by a plate c having an aperture shaped to give an arrow-head beam of light is focused by a lens d on to the mirror e. Movement of the mirror e with change of pressure deflects the beam along a mirror h which reflects the beam on to a glass screen i bearing a graduated scale j. Coloured glass screens g<SP>1</SP> and g<SP>2</SP> may be interposed in a portion of the path traversed by the light beam after leaving the mirror c to cause the image on the screen i to change colour at the extreme ends of the scale. A second light source, arranged in series with the first, may be provided to illuminate a fixed reference point m indicating normal pressure for associated apparatus.
