Abstract

660,866. Blood - staunching preparation. GIBONE-ANSTALT. June 3, 1949 [June 11, 1948], No. 15014/49. Class 81 (i). A polyvalent blood-staunching substance is prepared by transforming an organ having parenchymous tissue into a paste-like homogeneous mass, treating the mass with acetone and separately and subsequently by ether, the insoluble residue from these extractions being then treated with aqueous ethanol and the resulting solution being evaporated in vacuo to reduce its volume. The organ employed may be brain, lung, liver or kidney. The treatments are preferably carried out at 0‹ C. Prior to the acetone extraction, the mass may be subjected to maceration, for example at 5‹ C. for 10 hours. The final evaporation may be taken to dryness, or alternatively, up to the removal of the alcohol, the resulting aqueous residue being diluted with water as desired. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the replacement of acetone by another low molecular ketone, the replacement of ether by petroleum ether, benzine, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, benzene, cyclohexene, acetone or lower homologues of diethyl ether, and the replacement of ethanol by methyl, propyl or butyl alcohol. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
