Abstract

A pilot fuel for starting the combustion of kerosene in a reheat combustion system for the exhaust gases of gas turbines consists of a lubricating oil containing 10.05 to 0.1 per cent of stearic acid and approximately 5 per cent of amyl nitrite. Alternatively the fuel may consist of colloidal magnesium or tertiary butyl peroxide.
