Abstract
659,340. Walking dolls &c. GINSBERG, D., and SMITH, A. J. April 22, 1949, No. 10766. [Class 132 (iii)] A walking toy in the form, for example, of a doll, has moulded legs 2 secured at their upper ends to bosses of segmental parts of gears 6. Part crown wheel 7 is turnable about a screw 8 and engages gears 6 so that when one leg is moved forward, the other moves rearwardly. To permit a bending or sitting position of the doll, a bracket member 10 carrying the gear assembly and held between friction washers 12 may pivot round. A flexible connection 20 and extendable sleeve assembly 22, 23, 24 attached to the crown wheel 7 and head member 21 cause the head to turn from side to side as the crown wheel oscillates due to the leg movements. A simplified embodiment, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), does not permit a bending or sitting position of the doll. A clockwork mechanism may be embodied.
