As shown, a doll includes a leg 12 having a hollow cylindrical member 21 located with a loose fit in an opening- 18 in the torso and glued to the top of the leg, the member 21 being closed by an end wall 22 having a lever 28 pivoted to it. One end of the lever is attached to an elastic cord 31 and the other is provided with a projection 33 which extends into an arcuate slot 34 in the end wall 22. The other leg 13 is similarly mounted in the torso and has a lever 37 attached to an elastic cord 31'. In Fig. 3, the leg 13 is raised above the ground and is in its normal standing position with the elastic cord 31<SP>1</SP> in line with the lever 37. The leg 12 is in contact with the ground, and, due to forward movement of the doll, has been pivoted rearwardly, the lever 28 being correspondingly moved by the engagement of its projection 33 with the end 35 of the slot 34. On rocking the doll on to the leg 13, the leg 12 is pivoted. forwardly as a result of the tension in the cord 31 until it reaches its normal standing position ready to be moved rearwardly again as the doll continues to be moved forward. The lever projections 33, 39 may engage or be spaced from the ends 36, 41 of the slots 34, 38 respectively when the legs are in a sitting position. The frictional force between the cylindrical members 21 and the torso maintains the legs in the sitting or standing positions as desired. According 'to the Provisional Specification, the pivotal movement of the lever may be limited by a metal ,pin mounted on the end face of the cylindrical member.
