658,988. Counting-apparatus. BATES, E. B. May 11, 1948, No. 12868. [Class 106 (i)] A revolution counter, applicable, for example, to a length indicator or recorder for a textile machine, comprises an input shaft 21 adapted to oscillate an arm 12, or equivalent, whose stroke is limited by a manually adjustable stop, and means for converting the oscillations of the arm into a step-by-step rotation of the indicator or recorder shaft 1. The manual adjustment provides for an accurate indication or record of length, according to circumstances, in the application mentioned. In the counter shown, the shaft 21 rocks the arm 12 clockwise by means of a face cam 15, and return of the arm under the action of a spring 13 is checked by a collar 19 formed on an adjustment screw 17. The arm 12 is integral with a shroud 3 surrounding a disc 2 which it drives clockwise step-by-step through wedging balls or rollers 5. The disc 2 is secured to the shaft 1 which is provided with a graduated dial 24. Reverse rotation of the shaft is checked by wedging balls or rollers 51 acting between a second disc 21 on the shaft and a stationary shroud 3<SP>1</SP> anchored by an arm 9 to the casing.
