658,268. Propelling pencils. BARREY, T. F. H. March 23, 1948, No. 8542. [Class 146 (iii)] In a propelling pencil of the kind in which a helix rotates round a central tube 1 for propelling and retracting a lead-carrying rod within the tube, the helix 5 is coupled to the barrel 8 by a pin 9 projecting from the helix 5 into a slot 10 in the inner periphery of the barrel 8 itself, so that the rotation of the helix 5 relative to the tube 1 is effected by rotation of the barrel 8 relative to the tube 1. The tube 1 is secured to a point section 2 above which is a loosely mounted bush 11 screwed to the barrel 8.
