[Class 80 (iii)] In cam gearing according to the parent Specification the cam follower pin 3 has the tip 2 formed as a solid of revolution, the generatrix being an arc of radius greater than that of the root of the tip. The locus of the centre of the arcuate generatrix is a circle of diameter AA<1> slightly smaller than that of a circle containing the centres C, C<1> of the balls 5 of the adjacent bearing. The planes XX<1>, YY<1> of the two circles are spaced by a small amount, D, such that the circle of diameter AA<1> lies within a cone generated by the line B<1>C. In a modification the root half of the tip 2 of the pin 3 is frustoconical, the arcuate generatrix being tangential at B to the rectilinear generatrix of the frustoconical portion.
