Abstract

657,920. Poultry-cage feeding &c. devices. McMASTER, D. April 5, 1949, No. 9244. [Class 5(ii)] In battery cages for poultry i n which two rows oi cages are arranged back to back and fitted with automatically operatec feeding, watering and cleaning appliances, the frames supporting such appliances are in sections hinged together for facilitating turning at the ends of the rows. Rods 9 project inwardly from the uprights of the frames A, B, C, and suport the troughs 3, 4, 5. Rods of adjacent frames are jointed to T- pieces, the stems of the lower T-pieces being horizontal and carrying rollers 18 which bear against a guide-rail 19. The stems 14 of the upper T-pieces 11 are vertical, carry rollers 15 which travel on a guide-rail 17, and are connected to a motor-driven chain working around sprockets 42. Each water-trough 5 is fed from a small cistern 20 itself supplied from a tank 6, the levels in both cistern and tank being controlled by ball-valves.
