657,849. Clothes airers. AAS, S. AKRE-. April 28, 1949, No. 11356. [Classes 52(iii) and 52 (v)] A clothes airer comprises a rod 1, attached to ceiling, which fits within a tube 4 having at its upper end radiating arms 6. The rod and tube are locked in their telescoped position by means of a lug 9 projecting from the rod 1, which passes through a groove 11 in a sleeve 10 attached to the tube 4. The sleeve 10 is formed with an oblique lower edge and has a transverse groove 12 in the upper part of the oblique edge which receives the pin where it is held under the action of a spring 8. A spring 14 at the foot of the rod breaks the fall of the tube 4 when the bayonet connection is released.
