Abstract

656,791. Loose-leaf books ; bookbinding. HEADY, S. J. April 16, 1948, No. 10630. [Classes 16 and 146 (i)] A signature or section of pages comprises a pack of sheets 1 folded in half and a stub portion consisting of a strip 4 of flexible material, e.g. paper or fabric, attached along a line intermediate in its width to the fold line of the sheets and folded along the line of attachment away from the section of pages, notches 6 being provided in the opposed side edges of the pages, or the stub portion or partly in both, for engagement by attachment means in or on a cover for the signature or section. A stiffener of card may be secured in the fold of the strip 4 and the stub may be secured to the section by sewing or by staples 3. The notches 6 may be formed by cutting away quadrant shaped portions from the corners of the stub and the pages adjacent the fold lines to form substantially semi-circular notches. A rubber band may be used to attach the sections to the cover. Specifications 14731/07, [Class 146 (i)], and 656,790 are referred to.
