654,183. Injection- and compression-moulding machines. A.R.D. CORPORATION. Feb. 29, 1948, No. 6358. Convention date, Jan. 30, 1947. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] An injection- or compression - moulding machine has hydraulic means for removing cores from and ejecting a moulded article. An injection - moulding machine comprises a fixed mould part 16 and a mould part 20 which is moved towards and held against the part 16 by hydraulic apparatus 32 acting through a movable platen 14. Ejector pins 36, carried by a plate 34 secured to a hollow piston-rod' 38, are raised and lowered by supplying fluid through a pipe 116, a four-way valve 114 and either of pipes 110, 112 to a cylinder 42 which actuates the piston-rod 38. Cores 68 are raised and lowered by supplying fluid through a four-way valve to a cylinder 60 to actuate a piston-rod 64 which is attached to a core-plate 66. The core-plate 66 may be attached to the rod 38, and the ejector-plate 34 to the rod 64. The ejection and core withdrawal may be carried out during the movement of the platen 14 or when it has been lowered and is stationary. The mould parts may move relatively to each other in a horizontal or a vertical direction. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a moulding-machine for moulding articles which do not require cores. In such a machine either the core-plate 66 is removed and the ejector-plate is mounted on both piston-rods or the core-plate and its piston and actuating-mechanism may be omitted. It also comprises a moulding-machine in which the usual hydraulic press operating means co-operates with the top platen. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
