Abstract

<PICT:0653451/III/1> In degreasing apparatus of the type having condensing surfaces around the walls of the upper part of the apparatus to control the vapour level, the condensing surfaces are located in recesses arranged exteriorly to the degreasing chamber and communicating therewith by means of longitudinal slots each at the same level and on opposite walls of the degreasing chamber. In the form shown, the recesses are elongated prism-shaped protuberances 7, 8 extending along the length of the walls, the lower side constituting a channel along which the condensed solvent is run off to the outside of the apparatus or returned to the degreasing chamber while the sloping sides form the surfaces upon which condensation of the vapours takes place. The sloping sides also constitute the lower surfaces of prism-shaped conduits 4, 5, through which a cooling fluid is passed via connecting tubes 6. The apparatus otherwise is of the usual type and may be fitted with a cover 2 if desired. Specification 417,188 is referred to.
