Abstract
653,278. Rounding-up dough. NAAM LOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP H. VERHEIJ'S MACHINES. Jan. 7, 1948, No. 485. Convention date, Jan. 8, 1947. [Class 87 (ii)] A machine for rounding-up dough comprises a rotatable table 5, a stationary substantially vertical wall 8 located above the table, which wall is helically wound relatively to the axis of the table in a plane parallel to the plane of the table, and a rotating cylindrical brush 6 arranged to rotate in the same sense as the wall helix expands, the inner end portion of the wall lying adjacent to the brush being provided with a supporting surface 9 extending parallel to the table and towards the brush. Divided dough pieces are fed from a hopper 13, Fig. 1, into the space between the wall 8 and the brush 6 on to the supporting surface 9. The rotating brush 6 co-operates with the inner portion of the wall which is outwardly curved, to roll the dough piece into the shape of a vertical cylinder 15, Fig. 3. The dough cylinder then moves along the wall 8 until it reaches a point 10 where the space between the wall and the brush increases. At this point a horizontally pivoted flap 14 turns the cylinder over so that it may again be formed into a vertical cylinder, Fig. 5 (not shown). The forming of the cylinder takes place between the points 10 and 11 of the wall 8, the space between the wall and the brush decreasing towards point 11. After passing this point the dough piece leaves the surface 9 and is then once more turned over, Fig. 6 (not shown), and as a result of the centrifuging action of the rotating table on which it now rests it gets out of reach of the brush 6. Through the combined action of the table and the outer wall portion which has its upper part 12 curved inwardly, the dough piece is moulded into a ball shape and discharged from the machine at the outward end of the wall. The machine may also be constructed so that the table and brush are mounted on separate coaxial shafts so that the brush and table may be rotated independently of each other at different speeds.
