[Class 39(iii)] A hot-plate 12 for a well of an electric range rests on a flange 10 at the top of the well or on a flange 9 near the base of the well, and the upper flange 10 is elliptical so that the plate 12 may be tilted to pass therethrough; or the flange 10 may be circular and the hot-plate 12 elliptical so that it may be tilted to pass through the flange 10. The plate 12 comprises two sheathed wire resistances held in notches on radial arms in an annular rim 20. A reflector 21 is removably held by notched arms 22 attached to an inner circular member 19 on the rim 20. The ends of the heating elements are protected from spillage by a metal shield 24 attached to a terminal block in a metal housing 25 carrying a metal tube 27 through which the leads 26 pass. The tube 27 passes through a vertical slot in the well 8. A flange 29 on the tube 27 passes through an enlargement at one end of the slot 28 for removal of the plate.
