Abstract

651,868. Device to imitate skis. KRAINZ, I. R., and KRAINZ, C. R. Feb. 17, 1948, No. 4597. Convention date, Feb. 24, 1947. [Class 132 (i)] A device for imitating ski-ing consists of staffs and twin skates which comprise frameworks 1 with elements 2 for fixing one of them to each of the feet of the user and two wheels 3 with low pressure pneumatic tyres 4 and brake drums on which act brake blocks 5. A telescoping tube 6 and rod 7 are attached one to each of the skates by ball joints 8 so that the distance between the skates is variable between limits. In the handle 10 of one of the staffs there is a device consisting of a pump 11 with piston 12, counter spring 13 and angular control lever 14 to be manipulated by the hand holding the staff and adapted to operate all four brakes simultaneously. The pump 11 communicates with the reserve chamber 15 and, through the flexible tube 16 and the flexible tube 20 joining the skates, with the brake cylinders 17 which have pistons 18 and counter springs 21. The piston rods 19 are attached to the brake blocks 5 so as to operate them.
