[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XL (a)] Metal for use as an electron target for an X-ray generator or other electron discharge device is given a coarse grained structure with grains of elongated form by means of successive applications of pressure, such as by rolling, to reduce its cross-sectional area and between the successive applications of pressure, heating the metal to such a temperature and for such a time as to produce complete or partial recrystallization: The target material, such as worked tungsten, has an elongated grain structure of 1000-2000 grains per square millimetre.
