608,142. Pistons. SPECIALLOID, Ltd., WYATT, L. M., and PLAIL, O. S. Nov. 20, 1945, No. 31152. [Class 122 (i)] In a piston in which are provided one or a plurality of slits 4 in the direction of its length and optionally also circumferentially as at 3, there is engaged a ring or a plurality of rings 5 formed from material which has a different coefficient of expansion from that of the material forming the body of the piston in such a manner that the walls thereof are distorted and its cross-section in the vicinity of the ring or rings when cold is rendered by such distortion greater than that of the crown and the portion of the skirt adjacent thereto.
