Aug. 14, 1947, No. 22593 [Class 122(i)] A piston ring a has an internal step b which is eccentric with respect to the periphery of the ring in such a way that the radial thickness of the top edge c of the ring is less at the ring joint than at the diametrically opposite part of the ring. The ring may have an eccentric bevel in place of the eccentric step.
