[Class 39(iii)] The stem 1 and cup 2 of a glass are held in contact on supports 3, 4 and are welded together by dielectric heating applied through an electrode 5 located axially in the cup and an annular electrode 6 with inner and outer conical walls arranged coaxially around the stem, the H.F. being applied to the electrodes when the parts 1, 2 have been brought into contact after preliminary heating. The conical electrode 6 is in two parts for removal from the stem. Specifications 616,251 and 649,757 are referred to.
