[Class 132 (iii)] A walking toy comprises a body part 1, advanced by external means, to which are pivoted leg parts which, as the body is advanced, alternately engage a surface and are caused to swing rearwardly while the other leg part swings forwards and is characterized in that the leg parts comprise two pieces 3, 5 pivoted together, the provision for each leg part of an over-centre spring linkage connecting the two pieces together and arranged to hold the two pieces in an extended and in a partly folded position and abutments on the body-piece which operate to make and break the linkage at the opposite extremities of swinging movement of the leg parts. The upper parts 3 of the leg parts are pivoted on the body part 1 and engage cranks 24 which operate arms 22 oppositely to their adjacent leg parts as shown. The leg parts 5 are pivoted to the parts 3 and also connected to the part 3 by a spring 12 and an over-centre linkage 8, 10. The leg parts are interconnected by a pivoted bar 18, whose ends 20 engage the parts 3, so that as one leg part swings forward the other swings back. As one of the leg parts swings back in contact with the ground it is held straight until the link 10 strikes the abutment 13 when it bends and is then swung forward until the links strike the lever 14 and the leg part straightens. The figures may be supported by a wheeled truck which it appears to pull along.
