647,814. Press knives. ADHESIVE & ALLIED PRODUCTS, Ltd., and BROWN, L. Aug. 25, 1948, No. 22433. [Class 31 (i)] A cutting-out tool of the kind in which a cutting blade, bent to a required contour, is held in a slot formed in a backing plate so that its cutting edge projects from the plate, is characterized in that at least that part of the backing plate which encircles the cutting blade is so formed that the cutting edge of the blade is viewable from the opposite side of the plate to that from which the blade projects. The backing plate may be formed from a transparent material such as cellulose nitrate or acrylic resin. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 4, the backing plate 10 may be opaque and have apertures 18 formed therein so that the cutting edge of the blade 16 is viewable from the upper side of the plate.
