Abstract

646,504. Swash-plate. pumps. ROUSTAN, J. G. June 24, 1947, No. 16689. Convention date, Feb. 13, 1945. [Class 102(i)] [Also in Groups XXIX and XXXV] A swash-plate pump comprising a swashplate 9 on a rotatable driving shaft 1 adapted to assume a variable angle therewith and carrying, through bearings 12, 13, a non-rotatable disc 14 adapted to reciprocate a number of parallel pump pistons 15 in. cylinders 16 concentric with the shaft, the swash-plate being provided with trunnion projections 7 engaging in inclined grooves 6 in rotatable sliding gear 4 which is moved along the shaft to vary the inclination of the swash-plate and is controlled automatically by a device operating according to a predetermined junction of the delivery pressure. In one embodiment, the pressure liquid acts on a piston 34, to move a fork-lever 5 engaging the gear against a spring 35a, through a fluid pressure servomotor control system (see Group XXIX). In other embodiments the lever 5 may be moved by either opposed electro magnets or by a reversible electric motor through a lead screw (see Group XXXV). The swash-plate which is adapted to rock about a stub shaft 10 may be provided with a part spherical bearing washer for taking the axial thrust whilst the disc 14 may be positively prevented from rotating by an arm thereon engaging in an arcuate groove in the pump casing. In another embodiment the inclination of the swash-plate may be reversed for reversing the flow. Liquid is distributed to and from the pump cylinders by means of a rotary valve 20 of which several forms are described. Two pumps may be driven from the same driving motor. The Specification as open to inspection ,under Sect. 91 refers to the swash-plate being controlled manually. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
