[Class 44] In a door lock wherein a key-controlled cylinder lock is mounted in one of the door knobs 10 and a leaf spring 29 attached to the cylinder 27 of the lock engages with the interior of the door knob for retaining the cylinder in the door knob, the spring is accessible through the knob shank and may be moved laterally to permit removal of the cylinder. The leaf spring 29 is corrugated at 30 and rigidly attached to the cylinder 27 by engaging a recess therein. A tang struck out of the spring presents an outwardly facing shoulder which engages a shoulder 33 on the interior of the knob 10, the spring being biassed outwardly to retain the shoulders in engagement. The cylinder 27 is prevented from tilting by bearing against a rib 34 formed on the interior of the knob opposite the spring 29. A half round sleeve 15 extends into the shanks of the knobs 10,11, and has its edges abutting shoulders in the latter so that rotation of either knob rotates the sleeve and effects retraction of the latch bolt 17 by known means housed within a casing 18. Within the sleeve 15 is a spindle 24 that may be rotated either by a thumb key 25 projecting from knob 11 or by the plug 26 of the key-controlled cylinder lock, the plug having pins 28 to engage the end of the spindle. A lock slide retainer 19 rigid with the knob 10 and housed within a stem rosette 12 on the outside of the door has a lock slide 20 laterally slidable within it. The slide 20 has a recessed end engageable with a rib on the rosette 12, the slide being moved into this position to prevent the knob 10, and consequently the knob 11 from being rotated, by means of a plug 23 rigid with the rotary spindle 24. To remove the lock cylinder 27 the screws 14 securing a plain rosette 13 to the inner face of the door are removed together with the rosette, knob 11, and spindle 24. A screw driver inserted through the spindle hole may now prise the spring 29 inwards and allow removal of the cylinder 27.
