Abstract

645,721. Vehicle collision guards. DUO RUBBER & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Feb. 23, 1948, Nos. 5263 and 20710. [Class 103(ii)] [Also in Group XV] Bumpers for amusement cars comprise an encircling band or tyre of rubber &c. the operative face of which is provided with surfacing means in the form of a series of metal plates. As shown in Fig. 1, the continuous tyre 1 is covered by a series of plates 3 bonded to it. The plates 3 may be of different sizes according to the part of the tyre that they cover and may be connected by pins or bolts which pass through aligned apertures in inter-engaging projections on the plates. The band may be made up from a series of rubber links 5, Fig. 4, hinged together and each of which has a plate or plates 10 bonded to it. These links may vary in size.
