Abstract
644,885. Spinning and twisting yarn. TWEEDALES & SMALLEY (1920), Ltd., HOOPER, N., and PILKINGTON, N. Oct. 11, 1947, No. 27320. [Class 120(ii)] The builder rail A of a builder motion of a yarn spinning &c. machine is given a regular lifting and lowering motion by a driving shaft F upon which are fixed pulleys E over which pass flexible connections D positively driven by the pulleys E and attached to lifter rods B and to balancer weights C which maintain the rail A and its attendant parts in a state of equilibrium irrespective of the direction of rotation of the shaft F. The shaft F is driven through worm and wormwheel gearings H, G from the shaft J through either of two bevel wheels K, L power coming from the shaft N. The connecting bevel M is carried by a bracket M<2> and is driven by a worm and wormwheel drive N\ M<3> from the shaft N about which the bracket M<2> can swivel. Fixed upon the shaft F is a pinion O gearing with a rack P so that the rod P' rises and falls in unison with the rods B. Adjustably mounted upon the rod P<1> are spring-urged plungers U<2> which contact, alternately, with a trip arm M<4> to throw the pinion M quickly between the bevels K, L. Stops) S<2>, S<3> limit the movement of the arm M<4> which is held in either position, until tripped, by latches Q, R, spring-urged at Q<1>.
