Abstract
644,262. Radio signalling. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., and CLACK, B. N. Aug. 30, 1948, No. 22840. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XL (a)] One or more gas-filled electric discharge devices are connected between the primer electrode of a T-R switch and the main electrode with which the primer co-operates so as to indicate the existence of a potential difference between the primer and the main electrode. A primer electrode 8 co-operates with the hollow conical main electrode 7 of a T-R switch of the kind described in Specification 594,460, and is connected through a current-limiting resistor 12 to the negative terminal of an H.T. supply. A neon tube 14 is connected in series with resistor 15 between the primer and the earthed main electrode 7. If these electrodes are short circuited, or the water-vapour in the switch is cleaned up the neon tube 14 will fail to start, while if an unusually high voltage exists between the electrodes 7 and 8 due to the failure of the priming discharge to start, neon tube 14 will glow abnormally brightly. A circuit breaker may be provided in the neon tube circuit to ensure that the primer discharge starts before the neon tube. Specification 594,460 is referred to.
