642,835. Road-vehicle spring-suspensions. BILLOTTI, L. Feb. 6, 1948, No. 3562. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1946. [Class 108(ii)] A vehicle chassis frame comprises a box - shaped base 1, Fig. 2 to the front and rear ends of which are fixed rectangular frames, Fig. 4 disposed in vertical transverse planes, the upper and lower links 33, 34 of independent wheel suspensions of the articulated quad rilateral link age type being pivoted to the frame, the corresponding suspension springs and shock absorbers (not shown) being disposed in the respective uprights 2 of the frames. The frames comprise the uprights 2 and an upper cross member 3 of light alloy and a lower cross member 3<SP>11</SP> which.may be of ferrous material. The lower cross member is apertured in order to accommodate removable plugs 35 for the lower ends of the uprights 2 which contain an oil'bath for the springs and shock absorbers. The pivots, 4. 5 of the links 33, 34 lie in a plane which is disposed at an angle with the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The radiator is mounted on the upper cross member 3 and a combined engine-gearbox-differential unit is secured to the base 1 and disposed between the cross members 3, 3<SP>11</SP> projecting to the front and rear thereof.
