Abstract
641,774. Agricultural implements. CUTHBERTSON, J. A. June 21, 1948, Nos. 16583 and 29319. [Class 6(i)] An agricultural implement for treating grassland comprises a plurality of laterally-spaced arms 10 pivoted on a common transverse axle 9 for independent rocking movement, each arm having, at each end, a rotatable straked or spiked roller 13. The transverse axle is carried by a main frame, 2, 3, which is towed by a tractor and which also carries a transport device comprising land wheels 19 which can be lowered to support the frame and raise the rollers 13. The land wheels are mounted on triangular structures 16 pivoted at 17 to the main frame and retained in an inoperative position by a levercontrolled pawl 21 and ratchet 20. The wheeled structures 16 may be lowered by pulleys 27, 30 and tackle 28. In a modification the main frame includes a ballast container, and the transport wheels are mounted on axles adjustable on vertical pillars. The tools may be triangular, spade-like, or may comprise blades arranged in chevron-pattern around the circumferences of the rollers.
