Abstract

641,519. Agricultural implements. SPURR, A. B. May 12, 1948, No. 12970. [Class 6(i)] In a steerable cultivating and hoeing implement of the kind wherein a number of tool supports 11 are connected by links 16 to a main frame 14 attached to the lifting gear of a tractor, the frame 14 being arranged for movement transverse to the direction of movement of the machine, an auxiliary frame 41 is pivotally mounted on the tractor so as to be free to lift with the frame 14, and a steering link 46 is pivotably connected at one end to a bracket 44 on the frame 41 and at the other end to a steering arm 47 pivoted on the frame 14 so that upon movement of the steering arm the frame 14 is caused to move laterally. As shown, the main frame is supported on a pair of castor wheels 23 and is connected to the tractor by links 29 and 34 having ball-jointed ends, the links 29 passing through slots in the frame 41. The steering arm 47 is extended to form a handle 52 and a seat 51 is provided. The tools comprise hoe blades 18, shares 19 and clearing discs 21, the depth of working of the tools being limited by an adjustable skid 22. When not required. each support may be lifted by hand and held out of action by the engagement of a catch member 61, with a latch member formed on a pivoted locking lever 58.
