640,590. Spring forks. BENELLI, G. Jan. 9, 1948, No. 749. Convention date, Jan. 11, 1947. [Class 136 (iii)] In a resilient suspension of vehicle wheels supported by forks, the wheel is pivoted at the lower extremity of tubes 5 forming the branches of the fork, each of which tubes slides on an internal sliding member 8 integral with the frame of the vehicle, the position of the member 8 with respect to the tube being fixed by springs 10, 12. The spring 10 is disposed between the member 8 and a stop 9, and the spring 12 between the member 8 and a cover 11 on the tube 5. Sleeves 13, 14 are formed integral with the member 8 to house the springs. The members 8 are connected to guides 17 integral with the frame by means of screw threaded pins 16 secured to the members 8 and projecting through slots 15 in the tubes 5. The guides comprise cheeks 19 covering the edges of the slots.
