Abstract

640,516. Bottles. CRAIGIE, J. H., and BLEWIS & SHAW (PLASTICS), Ltd. May 6,1947, No. 12240. [Class 125(i)] A bottle having an integral neck formed by an ogee curving or shouldering of the bottle, is constructed of a number of parts each of which is made by moulding a thermosetting or thermoplastic substance, e.g. cellulose acetate, the parts being welded or adhered together to form the complete bottle and being of such a nature that the bottle is a substantially rigid body. The upper part of the bottle including the sides may be made separately and then joined to the bottom, or the neck including the shoulders may be formed separately and then joined to the sides and bottom. The bottom 2, Fig. 3, and sides 1 may be formed with a screw thread 7 and screwed together before welding or gluing. The bottle may also be made in two symmetrical halves, the joint lying in a plane of the longitudinal axis of the bottle. The joining of the parts may be effected by high-frequency welding. The joint may be rebated as at 9 in Fig. 4 or may be as shown in Fig. 7.
