Abstract
640,374. Ventilators. MADER, E. A., and SPARGO, J. July 10, 1947, No. 18320. Convention date, June 14, 1940. [Class 137] A louvre ventilator has a channel-shaped operating bar linked to the louvres with brackets carried by each louvre projecting into the channel to which they are pivotally connected. The louvres are biassed by their weight towards closing and caused to open under air pressure springs being provided which assist both closing and opening, their leverage respectively being reduced and increased as the louvres open. Louvres 10 pivoted on rods 9 journalled in a frame 2 detachably secured in a main frame 1 of a wall opening are linked by brackets 18 to a channel bar 16. The bracket of the middle louvre has opposed lateral arms 20, 21 respectively connected to louvre-closing and opening springs 23, 25, secured to opposite ends of the frame. The channel bar may be connected to the face ends of the louvres on the outside of the opening. A felt strip may be located in the arched lower edges of the louvres forming a seat for the edge of the next lower louvre which embraces its pivot rod.
