Abstract

640,138. Load-handling trucks. CLIFFORD AERO & AUTO, Ltd. July 31, 1948, No. 20433. [Class 78 (iii)] In a load-handling truck the telescopic frame members which guide the load-engaging member are of tubular construction and contain a slidable member connected directly with said load-engaging member. Two pairs of tubes m, b have corresponding slots e in which slide members r secured to both the tines c, and members s slidable inside the tubes m. The tops of tubes m are connected by a cross-piece n carrying a pulley o about which pass cables t each anchored at one end to the fixed tube b and at the other to the tine frame x. Extension of a hydraulic ram w connected to the cross-piece n lifts the tines to substantially double the height of the tube b by first extending the tubes and then sliding the member s in the tube m. The tubes b are braced by crosspieces g, hand k, and on members hand g are lugs i and d for connection with a tilting ram and the truck chassis respectively. The tubes need not be of circular cross-section.
