Abstract

640,018. Moulding roof tiles &c. by compression of material in a procession of moulds. ATLAS PRODUCTS (N.Z.), Ltd. July 2,1947, No. 17467. Convention date, July 3, 1946. [Class 87 (ii)] A machine for making roof tiles, slabs, &c. from cementitious or like plastic materials, wherein the material, carried by travelling mould plates, is acted upon by a compression roller which is moved alternately rearwardly and upwardly, and forwardly and downwardly, relatively to the line of travel of the mould plates from and to a point of maximum compression, has a plate or blade extending transversely in front of the compression roller, this blade being moved substantially in an elliptical path to prevent heaping up of the material in front of the compression roller. The compression roll 3, Fig. 2, is mounted in arms L pivoted at P and actuated by cam mechanism C, the blade 2 being carried by a holder which is driven by eccentric pins 6 and is adjustably linked to a fixed point 15. The driving shaft carrying the pins 6 is mounted in an adjustable head 8 under the control of a screw gear hand wheel 13a, and may be driven from the camshaft 11 by a chain 9. The material in front of the blade is kept agitated by a horizontal rod 21 mounted on the blade. Australian Specification 105,651 is referred to.
