[Class 116] [Also in Group XXVIII] Apparatus for removing old oil from engine sumps comprises a tank 10 on wheels 12 and supporting an electric motor 28 driving a gear pump 26 the inlet of which is connected through a flexible hose 41 to a detachable nozzle 42 and the outlet of which is connected to the tank 10 through a hose 36 and disconnectable coupling. The nozzle 42 is introduced into the dip stick opening in the sump to be emptied and the motor switched on, the pump discharging into the tank 10. When full, the tank may be emptied by disconnecting the nozzle 42, connecting the hose 41 to a union at the top of a pipe 51 depending into the tank 10, and disconnecting the hose 36 from the tank so that it can discharge into another receptacle. After a sump has been emptied it may be filled with a flushing oil which is removed in turn, the hose 36 being disconnected from the tank to discharge into a separate container if desired. The apparatus has a hood 61 carrying the motor switch 69 and indicator lamps to show (a) when the motor is on; (b) when a vacuum exists in the hose 41; (c) when the tank 10 is full. A number of different sized nozzles may be carried in a sheath 49 at the back of the apparatus.
