Abstract

639,607. Felt. MILNER, A. E. P., and TUGEN, R. G. Oct. 29, 1947, No. 28913. Convention date, Nov. 14, 1946. [Class 42 (ii)] [Also in Group XV] In applying a seamless fibrous cover of wool fibres or a mixture of wool and synthetic fibres to a solid or hollow rubber or like ball centre, fibres 6 are laid around an adhesive-coated centre 5 and inserted in a mesh shell 7 which is immersed in felting solution. The ball is then gently tumbled in the shell to start the felting process. Further felting is effected in a steam atmosphere on two rollers rotating in the same direction and if these are used also to start the felting, a solution spray is used on the ball. The operation is completed by rolling the ball in a steam-heated chamber 16 between a driven disc 19 and a free disc 20 urged by a spring 22. Specification 416,756 is referred to.
