Abstract
638,815. Bedsteads. HAMPTON & SONS, Ltd., and TAIT, J. A. July 14, 1948, No. 18946. [Class 52 (ii)] A disappearing bed for ships' cabins or panelled rooms comprises a bedstead A pivoted at B to the walls C of a recess C<SP>1</SP> and provided on its undersurface with a panel D to match the panels of the wall or room. When raised into the recess C<SP>1</SP> the lower edge of the panel D fits against the beading E of the panelled wall and a pivoted lower portion G of the foot end H of the bed is adapted to fill in the space between the upper edge of the panel D and the cornice K, a bolt being provided on the portion G whereby it may be locked both to the panel D and to the cornice K. For use when the bed is in-use position a protective panel G<SP>1</SP> may be detachably secured to the lower portion G. The protective panel G<SP>1</SP> and the boards B<SP>1</SP> are detached, when the bed is in stored position and housed in a receptacle in the recess C<SP>1</SP>.
