[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] A domestic water tap is made from brass or bronze in two halves 12 which are assembled in a jig with a thin layer of solder between the joint edges and then heated to melt the solder. Silver solder may be used and the tap is finished by polishing. The dividing plane is arranged to include the axes of all the passages of the tap. The jig consists of two parallel plates 16, 18, Fig. 3, relatively guided by rods 17 and each carrying a jig part 19, 20 to position a half tap 12, and spring-loaded hooks 21, to grip it. The parts 19, 20 are of stainless steel and thin to facilitate the heating operation. The Provisional Specification states that the halves may have interlocking serrations or other locating means.
