Abstract

Ornamented rubber sheeting is made by assembling shaped pattern pieces of cured or partly cured rubber on a transfer sheet to form the desired pattern printed thereon, applying the pieces so assembled to uncured rubber sheeting, and subjecting the sheeting and applied pattern pieces to a vulcanizing process wherein the pieces are pressed into the sheeting and permanently bound therein. The transfer sheet, which may be of paper or linen, may be stripped from the rubber sheeting either before or after vulcanization. The Provisional Specification refers also to the production of designs by the application, by means of the transfer sheet, of a powdered or pulverized crystalline substance such as feldspar, quartz, a metallic sulphide or silica.
