637,057. Frequency selective load switching systems. ROTAX, Ltd., and HAMILTON, R. F. G. March 4, 1948, No. 6754. [Class 38 (iv)] A frequency selective switching system for connecting a load circuit i, i to a variablespeed alternator over a given range of frequencies comprises a polarized relay j-n having opposed operating windings j, k, of which winding tends to open the contacts m, n and is fed over one of a pair of rectifiers h from the terminals a of the alternator through a rejector circuit e, f. Winding k, which tends to close the contacts m, n, is similarly fed over the other rectifier through an accepter circuit b, c. At low alternator speeds the rejector circuit offers less impedance than the accepter circuit, so that winding j holds the relay contacts open. As the resonance frequency of the two circuits is approached the accepter circuit impedance falls whilst that of the rejector increases, so that winding k now overcomes winding j and the relay contacts close. Resistors d, g allow adjustment of the frequency range over which the contacts remain closed.
