636,143. Imitation fuel. BELLING & CO. Ltd., and EASTWOOD, M. Aug. 28, 1947, No. 23832. [Class 126] Imitation fuel for an electric fire is formed from a wire framework or foundation to which are attached pieces of open mesh wire net on which is keyed after attachment a setting plastic representing log fuel. The framework a having portions b bent up to support areas in which log formations are to be represented is wound loosely with tow or twine g. Wire net c is arranged over the framework a in the approximate shape of the final log formation. The wire net c is covered with a suitable material which sets on baking, e.g. paper pulp or sawdust bound with gelatine and treated with formaldehyde, this material being moulded to the required final shape and texture. Appropriate colour is then applied. A flicker device together with reflectors (not shown) may be incorporated within the imitation fire, in which case vents f are formed by the absence of the covering plastic.
