Abstract

635,112. Bulkheads. PETERSEN, D. TOM-. Dec. 31, 1947, No. 35087. Convention date, Feb. 11. [Class 113 (ii)] In an arrangement of transverse (1) and longitudinal (2) bulkheads in a ship in which the bulkheads consist of corrugated plate having horizontal bending lines defining parts alternately parallel with and oblique to the plane of the bulkhead, the corrugations in one of the bulkheads are displaced in such a manner relatively to the corrugations in the other bulkhead that each vertical part in either bulkhead intersects an oblique part in the other bulkhead. The extension of the vertical parts in the vertical direction is slightly greater than the vertical projection of the sloping parts so that the vertical parts of the two bulkheads intersect each other along short distances in the neighbourhood of their upper and lower extensions.
